Bohol

After Cebu I took a ferry to the island Bohol. I did two short day tours with a couple of fantastic French guys I met in the hotel.

We did a floating river cruise that included a lunch buffet. The food was average but the music was good.

Bohol is most famous for these hills known as the chocolate hills. So called because the grass on them will die and turn brown like chocolate. Bohol is also famous for the tarsier, the smallest primate in the world. At the sanctuary they said the BBC was just there filming a documentary.

Bamboo bridge.

We went to a small zoo. A very small zoo and yet they had 3 tigers. As you can see the zoo security was pretty relaxed for housing a deadly predator. More shocking was that the height of the cage was maybe 9 or 10 feet. A tiger could easily jump out. The zoo was depressing though because of the poor living conditions for the animals. Very small, dirty cages. Seems the animals are being exploited.

The second day we hired a boat to go dolphin watching and island hopping. Saw baby dolphins! And the islands were very beautiful and the water very warm and clear.

Up next I'm off to Palawan in the west, to do a 5 day island hopping tour. Won't have Internet access till after its done. Bye!
